Plagiarism at the New Yorker?

Slightly former Rocky Mountain News editorial writer Linda Seebach (she retired just last month) has been blogging for about two seconds and has already managed to catch a New Yorker writer in what sure looks like plagiarism. The writer, Michael Spector, responds in comments:
I saw your blog entry on my Spam piece in last week’s New Yorker and wanted to let you know what happened. The short answer is I screwed up; a longer one would, I hope, make it clear to you that there was no plagiarism in the mistake or the story.
Judge for yourself.

Update: the piece was in last week's issue; couldn't find any correction or explanation in this week's.
